Principal's Welcome
Welcome to Holy Saviour Catholic Primary School, Vermont South

Please take some time to explore our website and learn about what we can offer your child and family. It's an honour to be the Principal of Holy Saviour because of the excellent reputation for the care and wellbeing we provide all children and families at our school. We are proud of the academic standards achieved by our students and the well-rounded children who leave our community ready for secondary school.

Steve Evans, Principal

We would like to invite parents (and younger siblings) to drop into the school and have a look at this inviting new
space. We know you're going to love it! This year we have converted a classroom into a Wellbeing Hub. The purpose of the Wellbeing Hub is for whole grades or individual students to use the space for targeted activities to increase general wellbeing and resilience. Teachers will be encouraged to use the Hub with their grades for Circle Time and Bounce Back lessons, to engage in PMP (Perceptual Motor Program) lessons, for creative play and more. Individual students will be supported to use the Hub for monitored sessions to reduce anxiety and to help them transition from one session to another. We have also warmly welcomed the Holy Saviour Playgroup who will be trialling the Hub on Tuesday mornings.

Welcome Hui Lin Xu!
We are very excited to be teaching Mandarin as our LOTE program in 2020. After many, many years it was time for a change and we welcome Xu lǎo shī to our staff.
My name is Hui Lin Xu. I am the new Mandarin teacher at Holy Saviour Parish Sc
hool. As a teacher who has been teaching languages in China, Japan and Australia for a total of 25 years, I am very passionate about teaching languages and I wish to foster an appreciation amongst my students of cultural diversity and intercultural
understanding through my teaching.
It is believed that as China’s role in our economic and strategic future continues to grow, Australia needs far more speakers in Chinese to make the most of the growing trade and cultural links with China. That is one of the important reasons why Holy Saviour Parish School has decided to teach Mandarin to our students.
Throughout this year the students will develop reading, writing, listening and speaking skills in Mandarin as well as participating in Chinese cultural activities. Senior students will have a go at Chinese calligraphy. I look forward to working with our wonderful school community to make this year a truly productive year for our students.

Holy Saviour - A school focused on individual learning and academic achievement

Welcome to Holy Saviour Parish School. Here at Holy Saviour we seek to educate the whole person.

We endeavour to cater for the wide range of needs of the children - religious, social, academic, physical, and emotional; and in doing so hope to provide a secure learning environment where children have the opportunity to achieve their potential.

We promote in a special way the ideals and Australian values of respect, honesty, tolerance, cooperation, and a genuine concern for the welfare of others, using Jesus as our primary role model.

This year, we are pleased to be introducing The Resilience Project’s wellbeing curriculum in our classroom. The Resilience Project delivers emotionally engaging programs and provides evidence-based, practical strategies to build resilience. We have upcoming presentations for our staff, students and parent/carer community that will share stories and research on how we can build mental health in our day to day life.
